Matrix Effects in Mass Spectrometry Combined with Separation Methods — Comparison HPLC, GC and Discussion on Methods to Control these Effects

چکیده
Even in the early times of chromatography with conventional detectors (i.e. UV/VIS, FID) it became evident that different sample matrices present peculiar interfering compounds, and the importance of using appropriate spiked matrix calibrators in order to get reliable quanti‐ tative results was recognized. In these conditions, however, the main concern was the presence of coeluting compounds giving similar detector responses, while the risk to alter the detector response of the analyte was not yet an issue.

Comparison of high-field asymmetric waveform ion mobility spectrometry with GC methods in analysis of haloacetic acids in drinking water.
Haloacetic acids (HAAs) are major byproducts of chlorination of drinking water. Electrospray ionization high-field asymmetric waveform ion mobility spectrometry mass spectrometry (ESI-FAIMS-MS) provides a tool for direct monitoring of these compounds. However, treated drinking water samples can be challenging to analyze due to the large number of chemicals present and due to matrix effects that...
متن کاملEvaluation of capillary liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization ion mobility spectrometry with mass spectrometry detection.
Due to the proteomics revolution, multi-dimensional separation and detection instruments are required to evaluate many peptides and proteins in single samples. In this study, electrospray ionization (ESI) ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) was evaluated as an additional separation after HPLC separations. Common HPLC mobile phase compositions (solvents, acid modifiers, and buffers) were assessed fo...
متن کاملComparison of plasma total homocysteine measurements in 14 laboratories: an international study.
BACKGROUND Information on interlaboratory variation and especially on methodological differences for plasma total homocysteine is lacking. METHODS We studied 14 laboratories that used eight different method types: HPLC with electrochemical detection (HPLC-ED); HPLC with fluorescence detection (HPLC-FD) further subdivided by type of reducing/derivatizing agent; gas chromatography/mass spectrom...

متن کاملNumerical Study of the Mass Transfer Effects on the Flow and Thermal Fields Structures under the Influence of Natural Convection
In this paper, a numerical study has been carried out for coupled mass, momentum and heat transfer in the field under effects of natural convection. For this purpose, the unsteady incompressible Navier-Stokes equations with the terms of the Buoyancy forces (due to temperature gradients), energy conservation and concentration (mass) transfer equations have been simultaneously solved using approp...
